Loyola Street Medicine was founded in 2020 by a group of enthusiastic Loyola University of Chicago Stritch School of Medicine medical students and physicians. Inspired by the work of local institutions, we set out to work within our community - Maywood IL and the surrounding neighborhoods.
We quickly partnered with Housing Forward, a local organization that works to end homelessness. Our early work has involved educational programming and direct healthcare to those sheltered by Housing Forward.
We have been inspired by the stories of our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness. We work diligently to expand our services to include healthcare on the street, educational programming, and advocacy work.
